I have tried your suggestions for removing the blue double arrows appearing on the foreground of windows xp desktop icons. All registry keys were deleted however upon reboot the arrows were still there. Any more suggestions.
    Thanks Danys

This is as far as I know the only solution or way to remove the arrows in XP. I don’t know another option.

After you rebooted and you noticed that the arrows where still there, did you check the register to see if the registry value where really gone?
