8 Tips and Tricks to Speed Up Microsoft Word.

This Word Tip and Trick is sent in by a nice guy called Peter Grudberg and they are some pretty cool and useful Word Tips and Tricks.

Working with MS Word can be great but it can also cause a real headache. Peter you just bought a new computer but noticed that Word was still a bit slow and that’s when he came up with these tips, tricks and tweaks to speed up Microsoft Word.

If you want to speed up Microsoft Word.

· Go to the view tab and uncheck the “Animated Text box”.

· If you use Word in Normal view, check “Wrap to window”.

· Go to the General tab and uncheck “Provide feedback with animation”.

· If you work with multiple documents, lift the ‘Recently used file list’ entries to 9 which is highest setting. Or down to 0 if you want to disable the Recently Used File List.

· If you use simple Auto-Shapes, uncheck “Automatically create drawing canvas when inserting Auto Shapes”.

· On the Spelling & Grammar tab, uncheck “Check grammar as you type” and “Check grammar with spelling”. If your spelling is good, consider also unchecking “Check spelling as you type”.

· On the Print tab, turn off “Background printing”. Most printers these days are so good that the background printing option is not really that useful.

· Now come out of the Options box and go to “Tools and Auto Correct” Options. There is a tab called “AutoFormat As YouType”. Uncheck all the boxes under “Apply as you type” and “Automatically as you type”.

This article is written for Microsoft Word 2003 and earlier versions. If you use 2007; most options can be found under the Office Button and Word options.
