This is a follow up of the Vista Speed Up Trick that I showed you yesterday. This was the article where I showed you how to disable the Windows Search Service.
Today I want to take it a step further by disabling indexing of the drives
But I do have to warn you that you are careful with this. This can not harm or damage your system or something like this but this Vista Trick should only be used on drives which are rarely used or searched. You can simple undo this option but if you want to index an external HD with 300GB with music on it then it will take forever to apply new attributes to all files.
Follow these steps to disable the indexing of the drives
-
Open the Windows Explorer (my Computer).
-
Right click on the HD.
-
Select Properties.
-
Uncheck “Index this drive for faster searching”.

-
Click Apply and press on OK.
And that’s it, now you’re Vista OS is again, a little bit faster. I hope you’ve enjoyed this Vista Tip & Trick. I’ll see you all tomorrow with another Outlook optimizing tutorial.
