Computer Tips, Tricks, Tweaks and Tutorials - Outlook Optimizing Tutorials nr.1: Adding and Removing Buttons From Your Toolbar.

Outlook automatically starts when I start up my system and I always have it open on one of my monitors. Microsoft Outlook is the program that I use most often and I’m not the only one. Without sounding too drastic: if I didn’t have MS Outlook my life would be a lot more complicated. My life behind the computer that is;). And because of that we use it so much we are going to publish a series for customizing Outlook so that each individual get’s the most out of his settings. I will start today and try to do it each Wednesday and it ill be for the next ??? months.

If you want to add something to the tutorial or you have a question please let us know. If I don’t know it someone else might know it and I would like to hear what you think of Outlook.

Today’s tutorial is about Adding and Removing buttons from the toolbar. It’s one of the basic functionalities but an important one.

This is a pretty much basic toolbar. One of the extra buttons is the Mark As Unread button.

I’m now removing the Mark As Unread button.

·         Right click on an empty spot on your toolbar.

·         And select Customize

Now you can customize the outlook toolbar. If you click on a button you’ll see a black border around the button which means that you can edit or drag it to somewhere else.

If you now select the Mark as Unread Button and you drag it out of the immediate window then your button is removed. Click on close and the toolbar is back in normal modus.

I’m now adding the Office Clipboard button to the toolbar.

·         Right click on an empty spot on your toolbar.

·         And select Customize

Pick your button and in this case go to the Edit category and click the Office Clipboard button and drag it to your Toolbar. This can be in any desired place.

After you click on Close you’re done.

I hope you all liked this first Tutorial. I already have a pretty cool one planned for next week. If you have any questions please let us know and I’m also curious which shortcut buttons you always use.
