New to the World of Office, XP and Vista Tips & Tricks?

Here are a few posts the other readers recommend you check out.

I want to show you in today’s Tip and Trick one of the most underrated parts of Microsoft Outlook. Well underrated might not be the right term, maybe overlooked is better suited.  Microsoft Outlook has a great option and that is the ability for creating rules to manage your e-mail.

I’m going to take my mailbox as an example; I have many email addresses coming in to my Unread Mailbox that I need to organize in many different mail folders like the mailboxes of my customers, my friends but also per mail account and per website.

If I need to manually file each individual incoming email than this would take up a lot of time and Outlook is all about organizing your workflow.

A while back we did an extensive WhiteSmoke Review and I found that the WhiteSmoke Software can be really useful. For the people that don’t know WhiteSmoke, WhiteSmoke is a desktop English writing application and grammar checker.

I’m now not explaining how you can benefit from this piece of software and how it can improve your writing. If you have problems with your grammar or writing or you want to lift your writing up to a higher level I suggest that you check out our WhiteSmoke Review and profit from the WhiteSmoke benefits.

No today I received and email from the people of WhiteSmoke and they wrote that they just released a new version of the already popular WhiteSmoke Software. They released WhiteSmoke 2009 and the sales are going through the roof.

How can I surf on the web anonymously?? This is a question that I get asked at least once a week especially now that pc security is such a booming topic.

When you surf the web it is possible to get information about you even when you don’t want to advertise who you are. This is true even if your system contains no virus or malware software.

Specially information like your IP address, your country (and your region/city based on your IP address), what computer system you are on, what browser you use, your browser history, and other information.  It gets worse.  People can get your computer’s name and even find out your name if your system supports programs like finger or identd. Also, cookies can track your habits as you move from machine to machine.

This week we have whole bunch of Excel Tips and Tricks and most of them are about Creating, Working and Analyzing Excel Pivot Tables.

But before we dive into the Excel tutorials we first need to be clear what Pivot Tables exactly are.

A Pivot Table lets you display the data contained in a column of an Excel list (database) by means of subtotals (or other calculations) that are defined by another column in the same list. The other calculations might be averages, counts, percentages, standard deviations, and so on.

If you want more info and you want to know exactly what a Pivot table is; Wikipedia has a great explanation.

You might have seen the forum link in the header of this blog but I can tell you now that after a lot of tweaking and getting things ready the forums are now live and accessible.

We worked a lot of hours to get things ready but now that it’s live, we and I especially are incredibly proud of what we’ve done. I think it looks really really awesome.

We created this forum for several reasons. As I wrote in the introduction post we want this to be the "mecca" for all your computer support questions of all sorts… a place to learn, to share, and to grow.
