And we are closing this week with another Cool and Handy Excel Tip and Trick. Microsoft Excel shouldn’t be used only for “boring” formulas but your spreadsheet needs to look good too.

I presume that you all know that you can colour the cells of your spreadsheet so I’m not getting in to that. Now I want to show you a way that you can automatically colour the rows of your Excel Spreadsheet.

For automatically colouring your rows in Excel you’ll need to take the following steps.

We are now creating a formula to have Excel auto fill every third row.

  • Select rows the first 20 rows
  • Click on Conditional Formatting

Auto fill row

  • Select New Rule
  • And now select Use a formula to determine which cells to format
  • And enter the following formula =MOD(ROW();3)=0

Auto fill row

  • Now click on the Format button
  • And select your colour from the fill tab
  • Click OK
  • And Click OK in the formatting Window and your done.

I came across the blog via Entrecard. I really like the modifications you have done with Brian’s theme. Some very handy tips and tricks.

He thanks! The Entrecards are pretty cool. I’ve been browsing around on your site last week for quite some time. This was when I accepted your card on my blog. I’m reading a lot about forex these days. I planned to do more with it in the New Year when these busy days are passed. I also liked your currency rate widget. I’m looking for something like that for on another business blog of mine.

If you are modifying your theme and you can’t get it to work just let me know, maybe I can help. I’ve tested a lot of things on my test blog. There will some additional changes coming in January; they will make this theme a lot more “playful and happier”. Unfortunately now with Christmas we are so busy on our blogs and blognetwork, pfff. So I don’t have any time to implement them directly.

Anyway, talk to you soon and thanks for dropping your card.
