Creating a Special Ranking System in Microsoft Excel.

This next Excel Tip and Trick is a pretty cool one and also a very useful one.

 

What you can do in MS Excel is create a column with certain values and manually sort it and you could create some sort of a ranking when you’ve added an extra column. This might work although it’s not the easiest way. This Trick isn’t working when the column contains double values.

 

Use this Excel Tutorial to Create a Special Ranking System.

 

First you need to create a Spreadsheet similar to the one below.

  • Select Cell A2 and type in 1 and press Enter
  • Now select Cell A2 again
  • Go to the data menu
  • And click on the Sort Ascending icon.

  • Now select the Cells B3:B12
  • And Type in the following formula =B2+(A2<A3)
  • And Press CTRL+ENTER

  • And your whole column should be ranked.
