Today’s Microsoft Excel Formula is an addition to several others that we discussed earlier. We talked about an Excel Formula for avoiding duplicate content, I showed you how to generate a column with only unique entries in it and I also showed you how to create a formula to count all the cells with data in it. Today’s MS Excel Tip and Trick is kind of similar to the last one.

 

If you don’t want to create a column with only unique data then it’s also possible to count all the cells with unique data in it.

 

A formula to count all the Excel cells with unique data or names in it.

 

  • First you need to highlight your entries

  • Then select Cell A11
  • And type in this formula =SUM(IF(A1:A10<>"";1/COUNTIF(A1:A10;A1:A10)))

  • Then click on CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER
