It’s time for another cool little Microsoft Excel Trick. If you made a list in an Excel Spreadsheet that is containing the dates it might also be very handy to have the weekdays next to them mentioned. Of course you can fill this in by hand and copy paste everything but this isn’t an option if the dates don’t follow up on each other. Here is an Excel tip to automatically generate the weekdays next to the dates and it doesn’t matter is the dates follow up.
A small tutorial for automatically generating the weekdays next to the dates in Microsoft Excel.
- Create a column with dates.
- Select the cells B2:B10
- Type in the Excel Formula =A2
- Press "Ctrl + Enter"
- Then right click on the selected column
- And go to the Number Tab
- Then select the category Custom and type in dddd
- And press OK.

Just a small side note on this Office Tip; my print screen will differ a bit from your screen. This is because my Excel is set on Dutch instead of English. The process will be the same though. I hope you enjoy this handy Microsoft Excel Trick.
