It doesn’t matter if you work with Microsoft XP or Vista, your Quick Launch can be a very helpful tool to work with. However there are a few things to consider when you place a new icon or button to this bar. Here are some tips for you to think about when you are changing the Quick Launch Icons.
The Ins and Outs about Microsoft Quick Launch.
It’s possible to ad a number of things to Quick launch. You can add your most used folders or files. You can add a shortcuts of your favorite programs. It’s even possible to ad an icon with a Quick Launch to your favorite websites.
Adding a Folder or Files to Quick Launch.
To add a folder you should first find the folder that you want to add. You can do this as you would normally do, probably via start and then My Documents.
Then left click on the specific folder and hold your mouse. Than drag the folder to your Quick Launch and let your mouse loose as soon as you see a vertical “insert symbol”. Now there is a shortcut created in the bar and the original folder is still in the original folder.
Adding a program to your Quick launch Bar.
This works the same as a file or folder BUT be aware that you select the program by first right clicking with your mouse. If you first left-click the program Windows may decide to move the entire program to your Quick Launch. This could cause all sorts of problems with the running software (if you can get it to run;)).
If you first left-click a folder and then drag it to the Quick Launch, Windows will create a shortcut. Why this is; I have no idea. I doubt if there is any good reason for it, If you know this please let me know.
Adding your favorite websites to your Quick Launch.
First start your web browser and go to the webpage you want to add to Quick Launch.
Then Click and drag the websites Icon to your Quick Launch bar and your IE or Firefox Webpage icon appears.
BTW, if you don’t like this icon; you can change it by right clicking on it and select properties and change Icon.
