Applications automatically starting when you start up your system is necessary for a good Vista usability. I’m showing you in this Vista Tip and Trick how you can disable some of the programs that you never use but are set on autostart. You’ll be amazed how many programs are listed.

For disabling autostart on your applications at start-up you’ll need to take the following steps.

  • Go to Start
  • Type in msconfig in the search field.
  • And press enter.

If you haven’t disabled your User Account Control – UAC, you’ll see a pop-up asking you for permission.

  • Now select the startup tab

Here you can unmark all the applications that you don’t want to automatically start on start-up. In this case I unchecked the program MindManager, which is essentially a great program but I rarely use it.

  • After you unchecked it click on OK.

And now you are asked if you want to reboot your system and after this you are finished.

I hope you all liked this cool Trick for speeding up Microsoft Vista. See you all tomorrow with the next Tip or Trick.
