Okay, we have another reader’s question. I received an e-mail from Claudia with the following question.

“I am also a blogger and for almost every text job that I do on my blog, I use Word first. The problem is that I always get errors with the curly quotes. Isn’t there a handy fix that I can use for this?”

Yes there is and a pretty simple one too.

If you and want to lose the curly quote’s you’ll need to do this:

Outlook Optimizing Tutorials nr.8 How to Organize your Distribution Lists.

I explained in the Outlook Tutorial of last week how to create a distribution list in MS Outlook 2007. I received several e-mails about this from people asking how I manage those lists and how I look at the contacts in it.

I do have to say that I hardly look into those lists. I have my contacts pretty well organized in several contact folders and each folder contains multiple distribution lists.

Here’s an example:

My regular/primary contact folder “Contacts” contains the details of my family and my friends.

I have several lists in here:

Disable the Screen Tips in MS Word.

I received an e-mail yesterday from Danielle asking if I could help out with a problem that she has with MS Word. It’s not really a problem but more a small annoyance.

Danielle asked if I know a solution to disable the annoying screen tips which appear when you rest your mouse pointer over a button/command.

Remove all the Numbers From a Row or Column.

Hi guys, I hope you all had a great weekend! I did, we hooked up with some old friends for my best friend’s birthday and we just had a great Saturday night. We had a quiet Sunday, my girl and I went to an exhibition and when we came back I had some work to do. The article that I published yesterday about using Microsoft Outlook 2000 and later as your RSS reader was one of my tasks. If you had time to grab a copy let me know okay, I’m curious how the Newsgator plugin worked for you.

Work Faster With a Drop Down List For Auto Filling Your Cells.

In the last couple of months we’ve covered some really cool Excel Tips and Tricks. But more important some of these Excel Tips and Tricks were really useful and will save you lots of time. Some of my personal favorite Excel Tips and Tricks are the Excel formula’s that we used to count all the empty cells, the one to automatically highlight the weekdays, and the Trick for Excel telling you your input so you can check your data. You can imagine that I would publish the Tips and Tricks first that I’m using most often. This is why I was a bit surprised when Danielle send me an e-mail if I could make a tutorial for her with a small explanation about the use of auto-form’s in Microsoft Excel. I’m using the drop down menus in Microsoft Excel quite often and they are real handy, they will save you lots of time so it was quite surprising that I didn’t cover it earlier but if you ask me; better late than never;).

Highlight the Days of the Week With This Tutorial.

I wrote yesterday about a formula to automatically display the weekends in a column. Pretty soon after I published the article I received an e-mail with a very good question from a guy from my birth city Rotterdam named Michel. So what else could I have done than to fit this reader question right in;).

Michel asked me this; this is a very good tip but now you’ve entered the weekends in a second column, what if I don’t want to add a second column because that is where my data is filled in. Is there a way to display the weekends in another way?

Yes, there is; it’s possible to change the fonts, the background colour or have the dates underlined or bolded.
