Just a short message about something cool that I was reading this morning that might be interested for you.

 

Most of you know that Microsoft Outlook 2007 can be used as an RSS Reader and if you have Outlook 2007 then you are probably using it since it really is a great reader. This morning I was reading on one of the webmaster forums that using Outlook as an RSS reader isn’t limited to 2007 users. If you are using Microsoft Outlook 2000 or later you can go to the Newsgator website and download a free Newsgator inbox.

The next Tip and Trick can be a great one and a very valuable one. This Outlook Tip and Trick is for the heavy user among us.  This is Tip is here for the once that use MS Outlook for sending lots of e-mails and often with large attachments.

 

I am one of those users; I think that MS Outlook is my most used and most important program that I’m currently using. I am using this Tip and Trick also for my network surroundings and I am backing up this folder every few days.

 

For changing the folder where e-mails and attachments are saved you’ll need to follow the steps.

After we personalized Microsoft Outlook Today and changed the way we display our mail folders its now time for the next Outlook Tip and Trick where we personalize the Outlook To Do bar.

 

The view on the Outlook To Do bar can be customized using any of the customization options available for Task views, including the ability to color items using Automatic Formatting or filtering items by date.

 

To customize you’re To Do bar you’ll need to take the following steps.

 

Right click on the field header (which is in this case “Arranged by Due Date”).

We already covert the using Microsoft Outlook 2007 as an RSS reader and using MS Outlook for Receiving RSS, sending mail but with-out receiving mail.

 

But earlier this week I installed a pc for a friend of my and to my surprise Outlook 2003 doesn’t have any standard settings for automatically checking/receiving e-mails. Which I think are pretty much the basics and one of the primary reasons why we use Microsoft Outlook.

 

So today were going back to the basics.

 

This is how you set Outlook to automatically check or receive e-mail.

The next Office Tip and Trick is for MS Outlook. It’s a small but handy tip for displaying your mailbox items in the way that you prefer. Microsoft Outlook has two options for displaying them. In blue "()" and in green "[]".

 

The Blue parenthesis "()" are for displaying the number of unread messages.

And the green brackets "[]" are for displaying the total number of messages in your inbox.

In part one of this miniseries I showed you how to create a shortcut for your e-mail and how you set a fixed receiver and e-mail subject.

 

Now that you know how to create this shortcut you might also want to have a pre-written e-mail body or a fixed CC e-mail address.

 

Please do note that this Windows XP and Windows Vista Tip and Trick is limited because of the Windows Command line that cannot be longer than 255 characters. Nevertheless, you’ll have plenty of space to write a nice standard e-mail even thought this space is limited.
